Kids Clothing...Grrrrr...

I remember when I was little and we were shopping for clothes, you tried on a size. If it fit, great, if it didn't, you went up or down until you figured out what size you needed. I miss those days. Now, when I shop for my children's clothes, they have these "adjustable waists". When they first came out with the adjustable waists, I thought they would be great. A couple of years later, I'm waving the white flag. I was wrong. Just for my DH's sake, I will repeat that: I was wrong. (He doesn't hear that often enough.) I hate adjustable waists. They actually leave bruises on my DS waists from the buttons. I don't know why. I've tried making the waistband looser, but then his pants just fall down. My DD's pants/skirts, never fit, period. I don't know what the deal is. She seems to spend a perpetual amount of time "trying to get my underwear out of my tush". It's a lovely thing to see over and over again. Either that or, coupled with the new trend of low rise, even in children's clothing (what's up with that too?), we see her tush hanging out all the time. My DD, at the ripe old age of 5, evidently has a career as a plumber ahead of her. The worst thing about the adjustable waist tidal wave is that it makes it impossible to find the good old elastic back waist. Those fit my kids. The gathered up excess that needed gathered, they stretched when you needed a little more room unti the next size. It's spring-like here. Hurray! But I'm getting grumpy just thinking of another season trying to find clothes that fit my darling little tweedles.

I'm with ya! My 15-year-old is 5'8" and 115 pounds. Do I need to go any further? :)

I agree! I love those elastic-waist pants for my daughter. They definitely fit her the best. And don't even get me started on the styles for little girls' clothes. Low-rise baby jeans? Ugh!
