Harry--the final chapter

Well, I'm going to tell this story through the eyes of an eight year old boy, because, in the end, those are the only eyes who matter, aren't they? If you read my blog regularly, you'll already know that it's been quite an emotional, tragic week around here. Harry, my eight year old's beloved stuffed rhino, disappeared on a trip to the zoo. Watching your little boy grieve is not a good thing to ever have to do, ever. It was horrible feeling so helpless to comfort him while he was so upset. Here's the conclusion to the story:

On Thursday, while everyone was at Vacation Bible School, someone left a bag on our door. In the bag was a stuffed rhino and a note. At first, when the rhino was pulled out of the bag, Julianna got very excited exclaiming, "it's Harry", over and over. Jacob kept insisting it wasn't, it didn't look exactly like Harry. Thank heaven someone had left a note explaining that they had washed the rhino. Oh, Jacob realized, no wonder he looks different. The note explained they had called the zoo to find out who he belonged to and dropped him off.

Jacob's so very, very happy again. His first words were actually, "Now I can have fun again". Yup, you sure can buddy. Miracles do happen and through someone's extraordinary kindness, my little guy's heart was healed and his life is happy again. Seeing that emotion on his face is one of the best feelings ever. :-)

Mysterious? Maybe. Maybe not. Does it really matter? The important thing is all is right in my little guy's world again.

What a wonderful end to such a dreadful beginning! Now Jacob will have to keep Harry safely attached with one of those toddler wrist straps whenever they got out in public together ;)

Happy endings are the best. Especially when it pertains to your child's broken heart.

OHMYGOD, I am so happy for him and Harry! I've been hoping that *some* good conclusion would occur. People are awesome! :)

I hope you're going to let that reporter know. It would make a good follow-up story for him, and I'm sure his readers would love it! :)

WHEW!!! Thank goodness for happy endings. I'm so glad, thrilled, excited to hear that Harry found his way home (regardless of how he got there). I can't imagine how happy Jacob must be to finally have his friend with him again.

Isn't it great how life works its way out now when they're young.
