Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are…
Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect Tomorrow.
One day I shall dig my nails into the earth,
or bury my face in my pillow,
or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky
and want, more than all the world, your return.

And Then MY Head Exploded

Homework assignment guaranteed to cause meltdowns, tears, utter devastation:  Give a 1-2 minute speech on a book you have read (in this case non-fiction), without any note cards.

I agree that's hard.  I would even say it's unreasonable at this age (10), to expect them to be able to do.  (A notecard with key words would make ALL the difference.)

But, come on!  You can do this.  You are (just stating truths) one of the brightest kids in the class.  This is not beyond your capabilities.  RELAX.  I am not the enemy.  BREATHE.  You will survive this, one way or another.  I'd like to survive too.

Oh my goodness, I certainly hope he learns to chill a little more as he grows.

*sigh*

No prompt cards? That IS a bit hard. At 10, just giving a speech is daunting enough without having to memorize it.

There are certain things that cause my 11 year old to act just this way. Gah!

I think it is hard no matter what the age! But no note cards? Seriously? Yikes!

No note cards? Anyone who gives a speech has note cards to prompt. I don't think I've *ever* given a speech without them.
