Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are…
Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect Tomorrow.
One day I shall dig my nails into the earth,
or bury my face in my pillow,
or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky
and want, more than all the world, your return.

Resolutions

I'm getting slightly better at living positively.  Unfortunately it's still more of a one step forward, one (two?) step(s) back kind of thing...  but I'm trying and I can see progress, so there's that...

I did have one more resolution for the upcoming year.  Mark absolutely loves jambalaya and gumbo.  I'm determined to learn to make a jambalaya he can enjoy.  If that goes well, and if I can enjoy it as well, then I'll attempt gumbo.  Honestly, neither one of these thrill me, but that's not what it's about.  One of the skills I bring to our marriage, our life, is my cooking chops.  I want to exercise them and use them to learn to make something that brings joy to the one who brings me so much joy.

So...I'm starting with jambalaya.  Mark loves Cheesecake Factory's version, it has chicken and shrimp in it.  I'll be researching and scouring for a recipe to start with.  If you've got one you love, please pass it along.  At this point I need all the help I can get.

(I'm very embarrassed and ashamed to admit I still haven't made him the apple dumplings.  Ugh.  How can that even be possible?  I've made him lots of other things, including special things for his birthday, but I haven't made those and they're taking on a life of their own.  I need to get to that.  Soon.  Is there something you've been meaning to do for someone you love that you let life get in the way?)

My son makes a really good jambalaya. He starts with Zataran mix. To it he adds smoked sausage, shrimp or chicken or a combination of all and okra. It's very tasty.
